Here in NYC, waited online since 2pm. I was number 28 or so.

AT&T didn't control the line, tons of people cut, and when I was about 12 deep (after their system went down for 30 minutes). They came out and said they had 3 left.

3!

Go to the Apple store.

Stay away from AT&T.

Seriously.

Think all AT&T stores went down for 30 mins. Odd they didn't have enough there. They were able to sell everyone one in line. It took a bit but everyone was going to get one.

We had an awesome time at our AT&T store. The manager was awesome. She was running in the store googling questions he had, she called corporate every half hour asking if the amount of people in line matched what iphones that were coming. Never any real numbers but it went from 20 confirmed phones, to 25, to 30, 35, then 50.

We had pizza and everything. haha

There were no line problems at the AT&T store I was at. The system did go down for a bit while I was purchasing my phone, but I got out of there with one, so I'm happy.

Agreed!

Not looking forward to 2 years of dealing with AT&T.

Was at the AT&T store at 53rd and 6th. I figured that I'd have a better chance there than going to the mob at the Apple store.

I was about the 90th person on line and within the first half hour, their computers went down. Then when it came back up, they were processing customers at an average of 10 mins / person.

I finally gave up and went over to the Apple store. The Apple Genius greeted me and ushered me on line which took all of 5 mins. I got inside and was ushered towards the counter and came out with an iPhone in less than 15 mins.

I went back to the original AT&T store and there were about 50 people still on line. I told them there was practically no wait at the flagship store and a bunch of people went over there.

I hope this isn't indicative of the next 2 years with AT&T.

Good luck all!

BTW: don't worry about not getting one. The flagship store had a ton there and I would expect that they would keep supplying that store. Sucks to be the person that waited 5 days in the rain for the phone.

Update: Grr.. Now activating my phone and got an email that AT&T is going to take a while to process the activation.. [sigh]
