There are quite a few annoying blocker issues in Beta 5, like some applications randomly cannot start, Office documents cannot be opened, and AppleScript got broken - wait for subsequent releases, or better final stable release.

it's a beta. it has issues (i have one, i started a thread about it). but not everyone is having these issues that you're having.

so the sky is not falling, and no one has to 'stay clear' of this beta because, if they're on the beta program, they (should) know that betas are, in fact, betas.

I had to disable Spotlight via terminal with this version. It was just murdering my battery with massive CPU usage that never stopped. I was also seeing issues where I would minimize an application to the dock, but the app would never maximize again and had to be force-quit via Activity Monitor. Yes it's a beta, but it is rough compared to the previous one. Download at your own risk.

Yeah, this far down the path for 12.5, you don't expect them to introduce a change that appears like a massive memory leak. Seems pretty random as to how long you have before it appears again.

Is it just Intel mac's experiencing the problem, or are the M's also impacted?

I'm on the M1 MacBook Pro.

It's a shared resources pool that's being depleted / corrupted - once the problem starts happening (I get 609 errors - the application can't be opened), it's universal - do a reboot and it's fine for a random interval before it reappears.

Sent the bug report in this morning just after 7am PT.

without:
. what HW
. which SW and specifics of issues
your post is rather useless.

My 12.5 beta on a M1 MBA runs just fine, not running into any issues

Monterey has been quite the buggy release. I have multiple Apple Silicon Macs that still make weird popping sounds (software-driven, not a blown out speaker) when the Mac's screen is locked and/or asleep and there are a bunch of other random things that are buggy. 12.4 broke things that were fine in 12.3.1. It's needlessly nutty. Big Sur, despite being far more ready for prime time on Intel Macs than Apple Silicon Macs, was a way more stable release for both sets of Macs than Big Sur. I'm even having a better time on the Ventura beta than on 12.4.

Craig Federighi needs to get this stuff in order or just not change the OS that much year to year because I'm starting to feel like Windows is the more stable platform these days.
