Steam Achievements Stay on Desktop

I was curious if anyone else has had this problem. My Steam achievement notifications, regardless of game, will linger on the desktop in random locations even after the game has been shut down. I need to completely log out of Steam to have them disappear.

While not the worst thing in the world, they are annoying. Anyone have a possible solution?
