I dont want to jynx things I'm just hoping the steam for mac beta doesnt turn out to be an elaborate April Fools brank come April 2nd

rbarris used to work for Blizzard on the WoW Mac client. I am not 100% sure but I believe his forum name there was tigerclaw and he was one of the more prolific posters/helpers on the forums.

He has since moved on, and from his post here I gather he is now working for Valve on the Mac team, hence his reference of Steam source code on his computer.

Heh, what. Why would it have been an April Fools that started months ago?

According to my files... lemme see here... April!

When were you at Blizzard. I was there until the release of TFT; but during the very early days of WoW. I now work down the street (from the new building, not the building back then) but in an unrelated field.

As mentioned several times before there isn't, hasn't and will not be a public beta. The beta page was leaked after it was sent to the press with instructions saying not to release it. If you submitted your information I am sorry to say that nothing is going to happen. The final version is planned to be out this month so its not a big deal.

This turns out not to be the case. We'll be drawing from the pool of submissions to populate the beta, in order to generate a useful amount of testing / exercise for all the new code. Probably won't let every single person in at the same time though.

Well, I know you are legit so I am glad to hear :).

Will 5 days worth of playtime in the past two months do? :p (that's 325.4 hours, although I'm sure some people have me beat - especially idlers)

If you happen to see a steam account user name that's close to mine, that's probably me :D

I'd love to play; I hate logging on to Windows to do it every time.

How the heck do you have time left to do anything else?

Actually, I made a mistake there...

Team Fortress 2:
325.4 hours total (6 months)
142 hours in 2 months

It was mostly because I wanted to earn enough items to craft a hat, I won't stoop to idling.
