Steam Games on a mac

Hi;

Not specifically windows on a mac however I'll ask the question here first.

Got my first mac about 2 months ago and love it, been a staunch windoze user fro 12 years!!
I still have a gaming PC in my living room and play Day of Defeat using STEAM. I'd like to investigate how to play Day of defeat on my 24 inch 2.8Ghz imac, its got to up to it!! as its probably a better spec than my AMD AM2 4000 with nVIDIA 8600GT.
What's the best way to run steam by installing Windows XP using boot camp or by installing Crossover.

I know STEAM will work using crossover as there are a couple of youtube vids showing it, will it work with boot camp?

Any help would be great : )

You're better off with the 8600GT unless you got the BTO 8800M GTS video card in the iMac.

If you still want to play DoD after that Crossover works well for Steam games but you missed the free copy day. Boot Camp is the best option in general for gaming.

I would honestly use Bootcamp. Crossover isn't a "native" install per say, and is more of a good solution if you don't want to reboot. I don't think you can get FULL graphics acceleration.

I use Bootcamp for all my games, Steam or otherwise. (Not that I play them often) I run Vista on an iMac from late 2006 and everything works good.

I've been playing CS:S through Crossover Games, works great!

Ah, yes. Counterstrike is one game I play on WINE under Ubuntu that works great.

For some of the more... random ones on there Windows is probably better. The only problem I had with WINE and CS on Linux is it won't enable OpenGL. Did you have that problem on the Mac, Aranince?
