I have the low end 15" MBP right out of the box.

I have a lot of games downloaded off of steam for the PC, so i thought to kick off my fresh conversion to mac the same week steam drops on the mac i would give it a go.

so far

Torchlight: runs smoothly if it is the only thing that is running. There wasn't one graphical hiccup while i played this. though i booted it up when i had Chrome, Gmail, Photoshop CS5 and TextMate running, and the graphics lagged a tiny bit, but i think this is a driver issue (open GL, because photoshop uses the same thing to render stuff).

Portal: When this game boots up the graphical settings are set to medium. I immediately bumped them up to full. the 16x antroscopic filter, and 16x anti alias, HDR lighting, etc etc. with out portals being on the screen it ran a smooth 50-60fps. when i would pan across the room with a portal active the frame rate took a dip but i believe this is due to he portal reflections option. Where you can see multiple renders of the same room through portals.

I'll be glad when games like Modern Warefare and team fortress 2 gain support so that we can really test out the graphical capabilities of this new line of mac books.

Any one else have steam experiences?

I hope they convert Fallout 3 to mac as well, as it is available on Steam ;) Now that and modding capability would make me stay on the Macintosh side indefinitely ;)

Hoping to see TF2, maybe even CS Source. I refuse to put windows on my MBP. I'm tempted to revive my old WoW account just to see how it runs but... well... it's WoW... I think I would be shooting myself in the foot if I took out the ol' syringe and needle again.
