So my account was disabled but with no E-mail explaining why. I don't hack or steal or buy games from anywhere other than the steam store paid for with my paypal or debit or credit cards. So I'm not sure why I've been disabled, but I can't access steam, which sucks.

I opened a support ticket and am 24 hours later with no reply. Does anyone know the turn-around time for Steam support tickets?

This started when I bought Left 4 Dead 2, my account just disabled.

i didn't purchase L4D2 - but i do have L4D - other than having to update my Steam client near every day - everything's been working fine.

Have you confirmed with your bank that the charge went through etc?

No help, just moral support

I've had my share of glitches with Steam over the past several months, and their help system is mind-shatteringly annoying, but if you're willing to be subservient to Steam and work on their schedule under their rules, eventually things will be straightened out. At least they were for me.

I did quit playing Steam games for a few months due to repeated annoyances. This grand gesture had exactly zero effect on Steam the company. So I have learned to not get all uppity - I recently fired up Portal and bought Left 4 Dead 2 and am back on the plantation.

Really? I have had like 1 or 2 update in the past month or two, not very often for me :\.

To the OP, it's probably just a glitch, it'll all get sorted out.

Really makes you realize how much you are at the mercy of DRM Overlords with Steam. Some 'glitch' happens and I'm unable to play software that I legally bought. I did get a response that I have to prove that I bought my stuff, which I submitted, but now two days later still no follow up or reactivation. My account is still disabled.

Terrible way to punish paying customers, while all the hackers and crackers are happily playing away with their torrented games.

DRM really sucks. I never had any problem during the two years that I am using steam. I heard similar problems from other users but they all sort it out after few days. Don't worry you will probably have your account back soon. Good luck.

I was one of those injustly banned from MW2 when they had a VAC glitch. All we would get were copy and paste answers saying that the ban was justified and confirmed. Luckily a few days later they unbanned all those affected, yet the whole experience left us a very bitter taste in our mouths.

As someone stated, I guess your problem will be fixed, but don't expect personalized service or a rapid solution.

The only glitch I had was when it wouldn't let me buy a game during a sale, the sale was ending in a few hours so I contacted Steam support, and they replied in like 20 minutes :p. I guess when it will make them money they reply as soon as possible.

Well, Steam support finally turned back on my account. Apparently it had 'appeared to have been hacked'.

I had to prove I had run anti-virus and keylogger scans, change my email and steam support passwords, and then once I did that they reset my password.

Overall it took about two weeks.

I really like Steam, I like what they've done for Mac gaming, and I love the quality of the games, and I love the 'buy once, download anytime' model. But I just don't know about being at the mercy of a DRM overlord...

As long as you do nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear citizen! Well sometimes mistakes happen and...I just don't know.

I was just going to post that you were probably hacked. I had the same thing happen to me. I found out fast enough to get it fixed within 24 hours. Mine was hacked from some "buddy" sending me a chat with a link within Steam that required authentication. I won't fall for that trick again.
