Hello

What happens to all the games I purchase if Steam goes bust ???

Valve CEO Gabe Newell actually addressed that in an interview once, saying they would be able to deactivate the DRM so you could play steam games without being logged in (he also said they've tested the scenario internally). Sorry, but I don't currently have a link, but if i find it, i'll post it.

I've heard that thing about the DRM removal too, but who knows what will happen. Will Steam vanish? No. If Valve/Steam have no moneys and everything comes crashing down someone will just buy them out and business will continue.

You can already play them without an active internet connection (at least, you can for Counter Strike and Half Life.) If Steam did go bust and the DRM never got removed, though, I woudn't feel so bad about download a cracked copy.

Hello

Thanks for replies.

How you play with without being online ?

Some games you just need an internet connection, others don't. But there are no games that require steam itself, except maybe from Valve.

Interesting...that's cool of them. If you do find, post it up! :)

Steamworks games require Steam for some functionality, probably not trivial to patch out. That said, as mentioned above, Valve has said they'll disable the DRM if they fold Steam; hopefully, the right to do that is written into their licensing agreements with other publishers.
