I just want to be able to stream my movies I have ripped with HandBrake to my TV....

I am at a loss as to the best way.

I like how front row works on my iMac but I just dont know it ATV is the answer as I need about 1 tb of space. So as well i need to get my movies on external HD's and stacked, meaning 2 500gig HDs

Soooo... what have others done ???

I have over 300 movies on my external hard drive plugged into my Airport Extreme. I have the 160GB model and synced all my TV Shows to it, which pretty much filled it up.

My movies stream flawlessly to my TV (even when the network is brought down to G).

Definitely get an Apple TV - the interface is much better than Front Row too.

Well, Dreamcatcher is a pretty steaming pile of crap... So is Armageddon...

Oh, I suppose you meant STREAMING movies...

:D

No. Connect your external 500Gb to your Mac. Move your iTunes library onto the 500GB drive then hold down Alt when you next start up iTunes. A window will pop up to ask you to locate your library (or create a new one). Navigate to the new location of your iTunes library on the 500GB and iTunes will now work from your 500GB.

Set up your ATV as usual and now you have a 500GB streaming ATV with the ability to sync 40GB.

If the wording sounds a bit weird I'm slightly pissed! :p

ilounge also has a great step by step guide to moving your iTunes library onto an external. It worked perfectly for me.

maybe that helps a little more
