Can't get Photoshop to get past that stupid splash screen where it says it's updating crap via the web. The whole app' gets hung up, forcing me to force quit...

Isn't there a way to turn this stupid feature off BEFORE launching the app?

Thanks, all.

Grumbling,

mangoman

For me, it usually has a Cancel button. It's a little button that lets you cancel out of that update.

Of course, I'm using the PC version, so I don't know.

I don't know if any way to disable that autoupdate thing though. Sorry,

Alia

It's in preferences. With PS7, it's in Adobe Online. I don't remember where it is under preferences in PS6.

Good news! I trashed the contents of the following folder and all's well: OSX: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Web.

Woot!

Bad assumption on your part. I'm a professional graphic designer, and for me that means paying for everything I use, especially software and typography.

Nonetheless, I'm curious how you made that conclusion. Care to share?

you can throw away the folder that you did, and it keeps PS from connecting to adobe and checking your serial/registration or whatever.

that said, it doesn't mean you'd get aproblem if you didn't throw it away (with a pirated version). i mean, the only consequences of not throwing it away is the ability to be nabbed.

i think he just liked showing off his pirate knowledge. hah.

I guess he made that conclusion (honestly, I did too before you said you were a professional) because trashing that folder makes it so that the new check feature of PS7 just doesn't run and you can run the pirated version of it from the web. I only know this because I've seen it else where..right..elsewhere.
