So either they stepped up their software or the sensor is just that good. If it is the later then when Samsung etc get it it should really be good

The problem with Sony is they don't release phones very well. Like their exclusive releases with Verizon. Sony needs to do a wide releases across all majors markets.

Actually don't most smartphone use a Sony sensor anyways.

I know not all use the Sony made one, but I thought majority do ?

Holy smokes...

This is great news. Sony make brilliant phones. The Z3 Compact is the most popular phone in Japan, outselling everything (even the iPhones) and the Z5 Compact is a real step up in many ways.

Can't wait to check this camera out.

Still hoping for news on USA availability... I won't import a phone that has no warranty, have to draw the line somewhere :-/

I see us people talking about ordering via clove from the UK, anyone know if anything is different there than the usual no warranty International model eBay sales?

They do, but a good smartphone camera involves more than just slapping a high MP module in a phone and calling it a day. The underlying software also determines how well it processes images, which is just as important.

It's like 10 different people buying the same ingredients from the same supermarket, but the quality of their cooking all differs because they each have different cooking skills.

I like Sony phones but no matter what the spec and megapixel, their cameras have always been junk compared to the competition.

Glad to see the Z5 topping the charts. Will be buying the Z Premium. However having seen comparison vids and pics of the Z5 pics relative to the Note 5, it still looks like the Note 5 edges it.

That's it - just what I need, more prodding to buy more phones :p :D

Come on, you know the Phones to own at the moment are

Sony Z5 Premium
Edge+
IPhone 6S plus

All other models do not matter.

I will be rotating the above three devices alongside my Z3 Compact Tablet which is my main work horse (due to screen size, with calling functionality).

They will not test it because S6 Edge has the same Sensor.

I hope they will review the iphone 6s plus soon.

Well I guess that makes sense. I Thought there were differences for some reason, kinda like S5 to note 4.

Cheers though..

Another Z3 Compact Tablet lover :) Use mine loads, I even think if I got the cellular model I may have used it as a phone too!

a better place
Because only 1080p?
In my opinion, this is a big positive.
The Z1 & Z2 had dire viewing angles but since the Z3 they corrected that. They now offer great brightness and viewing angles and on a 5.2" screen your still getting 440 DPI :)

But too few screen sizes.

If you're not keen on 5.2" and above, you don't have much choice

For how long? Until the next Windows Lumia is announced? I expect the 930 or whatever # it is to be impressive. Especially with cool features like a retina scanner to unlock the phone.
