Is this anywhere? I want to do a software unlock for my 3G iphone but i dont know what to do.

I currently have 2.1 firmware with 2.11.07 jailbroken

Can i just plug it into itunes and update firmware then download the source from Cydia?

step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

its still a beta if u need a step by step guide to upgrade and pwn and unlock etc then it may not be wise to try it.

Yellowsn0w is still beta so this should be a consideration. There is really no official guide because it takes some playing around with to work for most. I personally did not have to run terminal to get it to work. I just did the following.

1. Install BossPrefs and Yellowsn0w from Cydia

2. Disable everything in BossPrefs

3. Reboot your iPhone using BossPrefs

4. Wait 1.30 min when you see lockscreen

5. Take your sim out and insert it

6. Wait a moment

7. In settings turn on Fly Mode

8. Turn off Fly Mode

9. Your iPhone 3G should be working now!

If still having trouble trying ejecting and reinserting the sim more times.

The safest play is to wait till the stable versions are released.
