If you didn't know already Apple released their quarterly profits today, they've done excptionally well. In fact I had my wife buy some stock, already went up $10 since 10 AM. Here's what Steve-O said about it:

"iPad is off to a terrific start, more people are buying Macs than ever before, and we have amazing new products still to come this year."

What "new products" do you think he means? iMac? Seems like steve and co have forgotten about the iMac and the Pro in place of mobile gadgets. But apparently more Apple products are slated for release this year. :apple:

Jobs says amazing when he refers to every single new product or refresh apple releases. If apple's releasing a new bumper for the iPhone next week, he'll refer to it as an amazing bumper.

Also note that Jobs refers to everything Apple most recently publicized as the greatest thing Apple has ever worked on.

Apple's COO Tim Cook speaking right now via conferance call about their products, live updates via Engadget. He said something interesting just now:

We decide how many of the old products we can sell many weeks beforehand and when we run out we run out -- we're pretty aggressive.

Many people have reported international iMac shortages. Personally here in the USA I haven't seen any online retailer including Apple post any waiting times in iMacs, I could be wrong though. I looked at the Apple Store, Amazon, and Best Buy (except the 21.5 1TB ATI gpu back ordered on BB.com).

Also, he just said this in response to the question:

Q: Any thoughts longer term on how the iPad will affect the rest of the product line -- like Macs?
Tim: That's a good question and one that we talk about. It's too early to tell, but we're thrilled that we set a record in Mac sales. For us, it's a jaw dropper.

Looks like Macs still make Apple happy, which is a good thing regarding upgrades and updates for us little people.

Well its good that Apple cares about Mac. However for the future i think apple will update their mac line less often. Just see the two last years, there is a trend. Now that doesnt bother me, i dont need a new imac each year. And in 5 years from now, the ipad will likely be so much more powerful then it is now.

Allthough, i find it a bit worrying that apple have talked about what they should do about the mac lineup because of the ipad. They are saying that they are discussing it, and that they actually dont know what will happen with the mac line.

On another note, Steve always says amazing, so that doesnt mean much. I think we will see many new products this fall from apple, including a magic trackpad, new ipod touch or something like that, imac, mac pro, macbook air and a new redesigned apple tv.

Its nice to see mac sales going up 33% thats a big number. I just hope Apple give it alot of attention, and comes up with cleaver redesigns for their product. For some reason i think there focus is on the ipad and iphone. Can't blame them ofcourse

The conferance call is done, one more interesting question and response:

Q: (Shaw Wu up in the heezy!) Is the Mac business awesome? What about laptops?
Tim: We have a little ying and yang when we announce new portables without new desktops -- but I think we'll see a shift to more mobility and portables over time.

Not sure how to read this. Does this mean if a mac laptop update is announced so will a mac desktop? Or that as henrikrox stated, Apple may eventually phase out the desktop brands?

Enough of this doubletalk, Get me my iMac refresh already!

I dont see it like that, for me the ipad will becaome the laptop, and the work horses will remain (imac, mac pro, maybe mac mini). That fits what Steve said at D8, with the trucks/car comparison.

However i could be wrong as hell. I just have taken note of what Steve have said about where the future is heading, and what he believes in. But it seems Apple doesn't even know yet what to do with its Mac lineup.

Magic trackpad.
Photos already been leaked, and it's been approved by the FCC. apple have been sitting on it for almost a year, so about time they decided to show it.

As far is 'im concerned it will become standard with all macbook pro's and will be cheaper than the magic mouse.

'nuff said.
