Is TrueTone better for your eyes (health wise)? If so, that's the only way I'd use it because I actually prefer it off.

I understand I'm used to the bluish screens all our devices have, but I do enable Night Time mode at night and like it...there's just something I don't love about TrueTone.

It just doesn't seem like the screen pops as much. I just got my first iPad Pro and I've been trying to get used to it all day.

Let me know if I'm crazy or if anyone else feels this way too.

At first, I didn't want it on.. but I finally caved in and left it on to see how I liked it. I eventually forgot it was on. I have come to appreciate it in darker environments!

Leave it on for a bit. I found it very odd initially, but your eyes quickly adjust to it and then see it as normal.

I now find jumping back to my iPhone 7 Plus looks wrong if I’m using my iPad at the same time.

That's the thing. I have and iPhone and iMac. Whenever I use those screens I can tell how funky TrueTone looks.

I have been trying out a new 10.5" IPP to possibly replace my first gen 12.9" and True Tone was one of the new features I thought would be nice until I used it... I absolutely hate it. I have tried using it for a couple hours to adjust and it simply makes my screen look way too warm and orange cast over everything. I don't see any benefit to being easier on the eyes or making colors better. I'm calling 'gimmick' on this one. ProMotion is a close second as well.. sure, ti's a wee bit smoother but it's not like this earth shattering night-and0day difference. I can move from my first gen to this new one and barely notice much difference unless I am consciously looking for it. Actually focusing more on my work (writing, email, etc) it just gets lost and I don't pay attention it it. I mean, it really doesn't make one bit of difference when you are writing a document in Pages or Word or working with spreadsheets. Scrolling is a tiny bit smoother... big deal.

ProMotion is noticeable so I won't call that a gimmick...I actually love it.

TrueTone doesn't look bad but for some reason the screen looks a bit uneven without it. The bottom edge of my display looks a little darker yellow with it on. When I turn it off my display looks very even without any discoloration.

And jumping back and forth between screens that don't have it make it seem more noticeable aka. Yellow.

The adjustment that comes with Tru-Tone is how the sensors correct the white point and illumination with the display based on the ambient lighting. The more you use it, the more natural it appears and it does assist with an easier transiton on the eyes over the blue light emitted, especially in the dark. But some sit find it as useful, which it varies.

I’ve left truetone set on

It’s certainly a lighter on my vision setting when i’ Using ipp pro 10.5

Almost like a constant night shift mode though lighter

Though my initial 10.5 use has been surfing and music with a trial 4K video and a photo or two when required

If I switch off truetone ipp screen as far too bright tbh

I've had true tone since the ipad pro 9.7 and so far been used to it. I have no problems with it.

I still prefer Night Shift (or flu.x on my iMac)...that has a huge difference when I am staring at any Apple screen for any length of time. I notice some strain when my iPP is on True Tone but everyone's eyes are different.

I think that the main benefit of TrueTone is varying lighting conditions. Like when you go from a shaded environment to a very bright one the color temperature changes automatically to make the display easier to read. Without TrueTone you would be messing with the screen brightness in those situations to compensate.

Does TrueTone turn off automatically when watching movies or viewing pictures?

It does in the Photos App by Apple. Are there any other apps confirmed to turn it off when using?
What about Procreate? I would hate to use a color that looks a certain way with true tone on and then off being a completely different color.

I found true tone gimmicky. Left it on for a year, never noticed it make any adjustments under different lighting, and finally turned it off. Haven't turned it back on. YMMV. Meanwhile apple enjoys piling up the patents for such technologies. Maybe one day something more useful will come of it.

I know...and Netflix of the Movies (TV) App.

Does anyone know if it's disabled in those Apps?

I doubt very much that Truetone gets automatically disabled in painting apps such as Procreate. I always switch it off manually, but it is a pain having to dive into the settings every time to do this. I wish Apple would add a switch to the Control Center for this (this doesn't appear to be an option in IOS11 either, from what I've seen).

Apple needs to stop forcing their gimmicks on us. They rather create things that nobody is asking for than making fan demands. I'm going to laugh my ass off when Apple releases iPhone 8 without dark mode, despite those naive tech YouTubers such as EverythingApplePro who has been saying "this is the year it will happen" for the last 3-4 years.

Hold your finger on the brightness slider in control centre to activate/deactivate true tone or night shift in iOS 11

For those who like or dislike TrueTone, what is your bezel color? I have a theory... but I'll post it after a few responses... I don't want to trigger "confirmation bias". :)

My bezels are black. I can't stop going back and forth lol.

It just looks yellowish with it on.

I've been using TT since I bought my iPad 10.5 about 9 days ago (black bezel). I've gotten used to it as the several times I've turned it off I didn't care for the colder blue of the whites as much. If I used the device without TT for a day, I might shift and prefer the blue.

With TT turned on, to me, background whites seem more natural, like paper that hasen't been bleached stark white.
