What are you planning to do with one if they did bring one out ?Oh lord, Timmy. Please giveth me a 16’’ iPad Pro.
Why do i feel like i would never want to carry around a 15" to 16" ipad but never worried about carrying a 15" laptop many years ago
?Maybe your muscular strength isn’t what it used to be.
Just kidding
Because you had a laptop, and the screen was attached to a solid base with a hingeWhy do i feel like i would never want to carry around a 15" to 16" ipad but never worried about carrying a 15" laptop many years ago
The rumors have existed for months, but there is no gurantee yet it will ever be sold...OMG my prayers have been heard. Thank you, Timmy!: https://www.macrumors.com/2022/01/09/boe-oled-displays-for-tablets/
Because for some people their iPad has fully replaced a TV (so they watch movies on it for instance) or read magazines or other documents on it. And 12.9 it definitely small for movies and sometimes for PDFs too depending on how dense the page is. Also some people use they iPad as a monitor (Sidecar, Luna, Duet) and 12.9 is pretty small as a monitor (anything less than 15in is almost unusable as a monitor for me). Then there are those who draw and want a larger canvas.12.9 is plenty big. Why would you need a 15-16"?
Yup, or gaming and cloud gaming. On top of a larger screen is nice for creatives too: more space for illustrating and designing.Because for some people their iPad has fully replaced a TV (so they watch movies on it for instance) or read magazines or other documents on it. There are definitely use cases for a larger iPad.
I primarily fault Apple for that and their iPad aspect ratios. The 12.9” has way too much black boxing when viewing content making it pretty laughable from an immersion standpoint. The best aspect ratios for content are the IPP 11” and iPad Mini 6.Because for some people their iPad has fully replaced a TV (so they watch movies on it for instance) or read magazines or other documents on it. It's a compromise anyway, the aspect ratio of the 11in, which is half way between 4:3 and 3:2 does not give much more immersion and compromises on the portrait view of 4:3 contents (looks or magazines and books are 4:3 or even more square). The ideal aspect ratio for video is 16:9 and the closest thing to it is the 16:10 Samsung Tab S7+, but the upcoming Tab S8 ultra (14.6in and a weight expected to be between that of the M1 12.9 and the original 12.9in pro) should be the ultimate video watching tablet. Sure 16.9 would have been even better, but still much better than any iPad or 3:2 device at that. Of course if you want one device you need to compromise somewhere, if you want the best of each you need to buy more than one device.I primarily fault Apple for that and their iPad aspect ratios. Laptops are transported, then set on a table or lap and used. iPads are meant to be held. And that would be one heavy iPad.
Agreed, many still look at iPad like the couch device of the Steve Jobs 2010 presentation... Things have evolved since...I know plenty ipad users who rest their devices on their lap or have a case with standing abilities. Marketing wants us to believe that we’ll all be dragging these around but I believe plenty use cases are non mobile.
A 15-16" iPad for watching movies and such would make sense to switch to a 1080P format and I can't see Apple moving away from the 4:3/5:4 aspect ratio. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ which is a beautiful piece of kit and it has a 16:10 aspect ratio. It's an awesome device for watching movies or streaming shows on Pluto TV but let me tell you it's a really wide tablet in landscape mode and the Galaxy Tab S7+ is a 12.4" tablet.Because for some people their iPad has fully replaced a TV (so they watch movies on it for instance) or read magazines or other documents on it. A 15-16in iPad would NOT be for watching movies only. So no need to change the aspect ratio. If you want a large tablet for movies only the upcoming Tab S8 ultra, 14.6in, will be the ideal device, better than the S7+. The iPad Pro Max will certainly be heavier, but will have the advantage of portrait usage too.A 15-16" iPad for watching movies and such would make sense to switch to a 1080P format and I can't see Apple moving away from the 4:3/5:4 aspect ratio.
