The GM still has audio issues!

If I play an AVI file with QuickTime, the video and audio work fine. But if I launch and quit Plex, and then try to play the AVI in QuickTime (VLC and MPlayerX too) again, I get video, but no audio. The only way to solve the issue is to either restart the Mac or put the Mac to sleep and wake it up. Very annoying!

Mac mini 2010 with HDMI cable to TV.
 
This is a bug carried over from OS X 10.6.8

It has to do with something Apple changed in AppleHDA.kext and the only way to fix it is to revert to an older (than 10.6.8) version of AppleHDA.kext

I can confirm on my system that using the older kext from before 10.6.8 fixes the issue in Lion. The old kext will work fine with Lion so don't be afraid to do this if you have a copy laying around in Time Machine.

Interesting. I will check this out, but I have had the issue since 10.7 DP4, which came out way before 10.6.8.
 
So I have done some research, and it seems that there are many versions of the AppleHDA.kext file out there. How do I know which version to use on my Mac mini Server 2010 model?

Dunno, I just used the one that was in my Time Machine backup from before June 23rd (when OS X 10.6.8 was released). I wouldn't think that the kext would be any different based on what Mac you have, but rather which version of OS X you have installed.
