I'm curious on the collective's best guess on which quarter this yr. the new iMac M1's will be available to buy?

Asking as I've got until 11 Feb to return/keep this 2020 21" iMac which I'm really digging but if it get's returned I'm back to my 2007 which still functions but .......

ETA I'm asking about which quarter this yr. the group's best guess is on the M1 availability.

I would probably return it given it sounds like the iMac is going to get a major redesign, and the 21 inch might be upgraded to 24 inches.

TY to the 2 that replied, 'prolly going to return it but my primary question is what quarter this yr. (based on history?) will the M1 iMacs be available to buy?

Hard to say for sure now... Earliest would be March, WWDC is a real possibility, but it could be October timeframe even.

Depends on your requirements. As a software engineer I could never make the decision to return my primary computer and downgrade 13 years just to hold-out for a theoretical computer we know nothing about.

I bought the 2020 iMac and definitely have 0 regrets. I needed a computer immediately so it met my needs.

If you hold out for the M1 you'll probably be waiting till October/November.

It's also worth noting that there is no such thing as a 2020 21.5" iMac, if you have the 4K model it's from March 2019, if you have the 1080p iMac it's from June 2017. Other than SSD standardized in August the 21.5" was left untouched. An M1 Mac will be leaps and bounds better than either of these.

My bad retta, spot on certainly plus your 1st & itsmeaustend's feedback are exactly what I was looking for, TY.
