Was just in the Apple store on Fifth Avenue in NYC to pick up a Apple brand case (finally in stock), and the line for the iPad Wifi was an hour long!! And they only had the 64gb version in stock!! I just found that ironic given the Wifi+3G model comes out tomorrow.

On a separate note, I overheard an Apple employee telling a customer that they were only accepting credit card payment for the iPad. (And it was not because it was one of those handheld payment holding employees, this was in the line for the counter checkout). I wonder if that is true and if it is, is it so they can track the two per customer limit? Or just because they don't want that much cash on hand?

My local Apple store does not have them in stock for sale. I was told that I would have to reserve one and wait for the shipment. If I was high enough on the reserve list then I would be able to pick it up.

You can only pay by credit card or the Apple gift card. No cash, no checks as I was told by the store. That way they can keep track on the customer limit. Who knows, that may eventually change once they get past the initial rush and there are plenty on hand. Apple did that with the iPhone as well.

They can get away without taking checks as that is there right, but not taking cash? Someone should call the Ag's office and challenge this.

Cash MUST be allowed to pay off a debt. Buying a product != paying off a debt

They can simply refuse to sell you the iPad and you don't owe them anything.

They don't have to accept cash. And anyone trying to force them to is wasting their time. They want to avoid someone buying 300 iPads and then selling them overseas. If people got away with that, there wouldn't be enough here for all of us. This is a credit economy. I can't believe anyone would complain about that. There are bigger problems in the world. I for one support their decision.
