Still no "Automator" for ios

They have a name ready to go
They have models from other jail break apps and competitors

Why aren't they adding the ability to set conditional actions

My wifi connects bypass lock screen
I get home turn on my lights
I connect to car Bluetooth play road trip playlist


There are some really basic things imho they should be starting to build on with automating phone stuff.

Headphones are plugged in auto dictate messages

Headphones are lugged in auto play any received audio clips from iMessage.

Everyone can use some kind of automation. It's really far past time for them to add it.

Automator for iOS is needed ... Not just their attempts to guess what I want

Anyway. I'd think given How little has significantly changed with iOS in years even some Mom and pops would use some new features

That sounds something like Proactive will add in iOS 9. I know the demo showed music playing the moment you plug in your headphones.

But mainly because automation is a fairly niche feature that most people won't need.

I have tinkered with automation, from workflow app to IFTTT recipes to the new DO apps. I don't use them at all. I look through all the recipes, try to think of repetitive actions that could use some form of automation, and none come up. It's just too much work to set up and assumes that your habits remain the same. At this point, I daresay that many people are still not comfortable with the idea of their devices taking the "initiative" to carry out tasks without their explicit permission.

I'd love to see this kind of functionality come to iOS, but I accepted long ago that it likely never will.

In my brief period of trying Android, I was very impressed by Tasker. The UI was a bit confusing to figure out in the beginning, but once I sorted it out, the sheer power of the app was amazing. I was able to control phone silencing, BT and wifi on/off by location, open apps based on expected actions - it was great.

That being said, as great as tasker was, it was not enough to prevent me from coming back to iOS (mind you, this was back in like 2010).

I'd love to see the functionality, but I feel like elements of the 'tasker dream' are being achieved through other avenues or by independent apps. We're seeing geofencing with smartthings being able to do actions based on your phone's location, we'll see carplay auto launch when you get in your car, things like that.

I think that proactive shows real promise. This is obviously the first iteration, but I think on-device machine learning about how you use your device is incredibly powerful, and it'll only get better as time goes on.

I've been using launch center pro but just bought workflow today

While neither does much for system actions really they big do accomplish tasks. And workflow seems the closest to Automator there is.
