I find it really shocking that there is no landscape lock screen -- especially for the 6+. Now that there is the driving mode (which I've been using and like the idea), why doesn't my 6+ go into full landscape mode when mounted on the dash? A bare-bones CarPlay mode would be even better. It's not terribly safe to be dealing with a UI that is rotated 90 degrees, which I have to do for skipping around the podcasts I listen to for my lengthy commute. Additionally, if the phone knows I'm driving, why are the audio control buttons so small that I have to seriously work to press the audio buttons on the lock screen? I've stopped using the Apple Music app due to lack of landscape support. If Apple feels I should be mounting the phone vertically in the car, why does Apple Maps contain full support of either orientation? Seems to me they haven't thought through how their UI frustrates when mounted in a car.

Have they added landscape mode for any of their apps since the Plus launched in 2014? I can't recall any and with 11 they removed one (App Store) along with the landscape keyboard having features removed from it.

That's odd, someone made a thread about their iPhone getting stuck on landscape on the lock screen. https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/what-is-this-trash.2070077/

So I guess I stand corrected. There is a hidden feature in iOS 11. Here's all you have to do:

Rotate phone to landscape mode
Pull down from the top
You should see the clock off to the left and notifications/audio interface on the right.

I'm using a 6+ running 11GM

Still would love to see a more car-friendly interface when the phone kicks into "driving mode". This is a start, though!

It's because they've merged the notification center and lock screen, while landscape works on the pull down it doesn't on wake outside of random glitches.
