Hi,

After much searching and attempts via my apple accounts, I can still see no viable way to change the "default" email address from @googlemail.com to @me.com

I've checked out the pages on macworld and other mac relates websites but no matter when they may say, there is no option to change my default address from google to me.com

Has anybody else found a more advanced way to change this? Any other ways of doing it such as calling apple?

Thank you!

I cannot for the life of me understand why they don't just do this. What utility does apple see in my having to use my gmail or hotmail account for the apple ID?

Baffling.

It's very annoying isn't it! I've just tried again but it's not letting me change to .me :(

Surely there is an option to do it? I can't seem a direct contact to iCloud or something that doesn't require a serial number as my apple products are no longer under warranty... (and you need that to use fast lane)

I've managed to change the primary email... to an old hotmail account. It's clear that you can change the primary email to ANYTHING but @me.com (or Apple service)

Why is this? Would Apple themselves be able to change it for me somehow?

Having been checking this since the release of iOS 5 their is 100% no option to do this yet, i want rid of my hotmail email address as it keeps getting hacked grrr... but after contacting apple yet again the other day they still say no.... ALL WE WANT IS TO HAVE OUR APPLE EMAIL ADDRESSES as the default for our APPLE SERVICES... lets hope that one day we log in to find an option of making our me.com email addresses our primary apple ID... probably will never happen but their you gooo...

What really annoys me is now when you try to input your me.com email addy as your primary it still comes up with BS about mobile me... which is now closed...

Why not just sign up for a new non-iCloud e-mail address and use that in the interim until Apple gets some sort of solution for this in place? That way you can rid yourself of the account that is being hacked and you can move on to using the @me.com for everything other than the AppleID.

Not ideal, but better than nothing.

Also....use stronger passwords.
