I can't believe there are still no Contact-Pictures in the Phone- and Contacts-App. Can't find a reason for the missing....

Don’t know what you mean. Working normally for me.

I get exactly what you are saying! Why can’t it be like that!!! It would make finding a contact in the contact book easier and their is a TON of blank space not being used exactly the same in iPads contact book! Ugh!!!! Such over sight 😑 on Mac you can view almost anything in list view, column view, icon view etc iOS especially iPadOS needs to give us users these options. It’s not a very big deal at all.

You can't do this on macOS, not sure what you're talking about. And funny you should mention "ton of blank space", there's almost no white space in the current version of Contacts, it's beautifully compact. Adding photos would add extra whitespace above and below the person's name, as we can see in your drawing. Less content on the screen and more scrolling is always no from me.

I was talking about in general how iOS should let us rearrange stuff. I never said you can do it in contacts on Mac I was merely referencing the idea of listing things that Mac can do in general. Like in files whatever. But yes! We should be able to do in on Mac too! And be given the choice! I want to see contact photos in contacts you obviously don’t. You seem to be an extremely unhappy person fyi and my drawing was to illustrate the OPs idea since he wasn’t exactly clear. Not to be the be all end all this is how it should be and look. Let’s be nice now!

In phone app in favorites their is a list view of contacts with the photo beside. Probably best we will ever get

What are you talking about? Do you even know how to read and use context clues? Have you even read this thread?
That may have something to do with your context sounds useless to me 🙄. Why would you want photos to convolute the page? Why would people scroll through Contacts anyway? Just use Spotlight. There, profile photo for you. Easy peasy.

I can see how it might be nice to have, but you could probably only get half the contacts visible on the page at one time so the profile pic could be big enough (let's say about 7 instead of 15 at a normal font size).

I actually think it would be a nice option, especially for those that have many contacts with the same last name...or maybe would be a nice opportunity to place a colored ring around certain contacts to designate if they are a favorite or better yet, for people with two sims like me, one color for "personal" contacts and another color ring for "business" contacts.

Even for those having a single number, so many phones are used for both personal and business now so companies can save costs. Give an option to help identify personal versus work contacts, especially if you are not going to allow us to have two contacts lists (which I get). The color identification would be great to have in iMessage as well!

But just make it an option in settings; compact view versus picture view.
