Still no “send later” for SMS/RCS

Another rant thread. I’m properly flabbergasted that we still have no ability to schedule a text message for a later time. Androids have had this for years and years. Why only iMessage? Ughhhh

RCS updates are in the works for a future update, perhaps this feature could come then.

It‘s not coming, since the way send later works is Apple keeping the message on their server and sending it for you at a later date (even when your device is offline). They can‘t send SMS or RCS for you, because both are tied to your Sim / carrier on your device.

If they ever want to offer this for SMS/RCS, they need to completely rework how they handle send later from being a server feature to a client feature like their mail app send later (it‘s your device trying to send at the scheduled time there).

I would be fine with it being an on-device feature, in fact I would prefer it. I know it can lead to situations where it doesn't send, but that's a risk I'd be willing to accept.

Apple has the resources, maybe they could just prompt the user, elegantly, which method they would prefer.
