I have the GM installed. Read that TV app is being pushed to iOS users in Canada and other countries. Mine has not updated. Still have only the Videos app. Although I did get it on my Apple TV.

Any ideas?

My gf just updated to iOS 11 minutes ago and has it on her iPhone.

I’ve been running the GM ever since it was released to beta testers and still don’t have the tv app on my iPhone

Same. GM on mine. Can’t buy/rent content from videos app. Says need TV app but cannot download. Can’t find on App Store.

Tried uninstalling Videos app by any chance? I want to try but worried I won’t be able to download neither after.

Haven’t tried that but I will. I actually just installed the video app to see if it would trigger the tv app to install lol

I tried uninstalled the video app but no luck. I have the same problem as you guys. The TV app shows on my Apple TV and on my iPad pro, but its still not there on my air 2 and my 6s+ and all of my devices were on the GM first day as well.

Same here - all of my other devices including AppleTV have the app. My 6s+ does not.

what is a AppleTV app?

It's just called TV. It's intended to be a one stop shop for all the apps that have TV/Movies content (that opt in to the system. Most US TV channels seem to) so that you can search, say, "Fight Club" and it will return the results of every app that currently has Fight Club available, with the associated cost. It prioritises the cheapest/free ones too, even if the content is in the iTunes Store for money. One you've selected your result you tap, pay if necessary, and it plays. Basically it emulates the same search functionality thats available on Apple TV 4.

interesting I will have to check it out, thanks

I just decided to do a full restore with the iOS 11 IPSW file. Just wondering if there is a difference at all from the final public beta to the release on September 19th. Reason is that I was using the beta, my wife wasn't and I updated her phone last night (iPhone 6s). The TV app is on her phone and works but not on mine.

It works pretty well. I searched for Blacklist, got the result I wanted and tapped for a list of my options. It prioritized NBC as that's one option for me to play it for free (or more accurately, having paid Sony for Vue!)

Anyway, sorry, derailing thread.

On topic, I do understand why Apple has to do things by region sometimes but I don't understand how they manage to flub rollout so badly, seemingly every damn time.

Hey, so for everyone in Canada who was running the beta, looks like you'll need to download the IPSW file and do a restore. I did just now, restored from my morning iCloud backup and there was the TV app. Not sure what Apple is doing but seems odd that you can't download it while running the beta.

Someone wrote, on a similar thread, that the TV App rolled out on release day, in Canada. Makes sense to reinstall with the IPSW.

I was able to get it by doing "Reset Home Screen Layout". Interesting. Lost all my folders and app placements but better than full restore.

Try it and report back.

edit: it didn't stick. Rebooted and Videos app is back. Called apple support and while they are aware of this issue, they have no fix other than to restore.

That didn't work for me.

I'll have to do a full restore when I get home tonight.

I restoring my iPad right now so can't wait to see if its working.

But I have a question regarding the TV app. When I have a TV series in Next section, when I'm up to date and have to wait to the next week episode, the series is no longer in the next section? I found it to be very annoying and just because of that, I found the app to not be as useful as I though.

Can you add shows on your favorites?

Had the same problem in Australia on my iPad Pro. I deleted the Videos app then found the TV app and downloaded in App Store successfully.

I restored my iPad and it works, but on my iPhone I just go to the app store and download the app like de previous post and now I have both videos and TV app. I wonder if videos will delete by itself.

At least now we can download it. Up
until this evening you couldn’t.

I was able to download the app to my iPhone last night as well.

The app was not in available for download until then - I had been searching through the app store since Tuesday.
