Hi everyone,

Well I bought some of the last OTB 1.0.2 phones about a month and a half ago, unlocked them wonderfully, and avoided the 1.1.1 drama. However, it seems as though some people were able to get to 1.1.2 (although OTB 1.1.2 is still not possible).

My question is this: is there any benefit to upgrading from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 (or even 1.1.1)?

Other than the ITunes store, what am I missing out on?

Someone enlighten me please or try to sell me on this new firmware. Thanks!

I am also still on 1.0.2. I got my iPhone off ebay a month ago and it was already unlocked.

So far it's been running absolutely fine apart from the odd syncing drop out I was getting at the start.

From what I've read 1.1.1 gives WORSE battery life under the same usage as 1.0.2. Battery life is supposedly altogether improved in 1.1.2 though.

The newer firmwares increase the volumes of the ringers, sounds and alerts which is a welcome improvement if you've been using 1.0.2.

1.1.2 has many bug fixes, international keyboards and runs faster than the previous firmwares.

If you follow this guide http://iphone.unlock.no/ then there is an easy way to virginise and go to 1.1.1.

With me its the inferior battery life that has stopped me updating to 1.1.1 (unlocked) and the very complex method of upgrading and downgrading that is stopping me from going to 1.1.2 (unlocked).

I would reccomend 1.1.1.

I held out with 1.1.1 until the jailbreakme.com was updated to work excusively for 1.1.1 and it worked perfectly, so just to keep up with new apps and just in general, I would reccommend it...

How about battery life under 1.1.1??

What about this supposed thing I've heard that hacked/unlocked phones on 1.1.1 don't have VM notification? I heard it returned on 1.1.2, but this concerns me because not having visual voicemail is fine, but not knowing if i have voicemail--period--is too annoying.

If your provider sends SMS notifications with a text instead of a number as sender, 1.1.1 messes up. There is a fix which installs 1.1.2's SMS app in 1.1.1.

Anyway, since today I'm suggesting 1.1.2 for everyone. Upgrading to 1.1.2 is now as easy as hacking 1.1.1:
