any idea how long it takes to partition a disk? - mine is still saying "partitioning disk" an hour later (using bootcamp installer on new mac pro - 2nd internal HD - partition= 32GB)

Shouldn't be taking that long, but if you're setting it up on your 2nd internal disc, why not just partition it in the regular fashion? If that disc isn't already full of stuff, just destructively partition it in Disk Utility and go from there.

I think this is regular fashion isn't it? it's ok to partition another internal HD.

I do have files on the HD - perhaps I should move them and wipe HD first?

Strange - I've tried a few times and still it just says "partitioning disk" and nothing happens. I have emptied extra internal HD and reformatted it, but still no joy.

I'm using create '2nd partition on HD' rather than erase and create just windows. Do I need to totally give the HD over to windows? shouldn't have to really should I ? Any ideas what I could try?

would I be better off trying parallels?
