Just bought a 15 Pro yesterday and it wouldn’t let me finish setup until it installed iOS18 , I hate and want 17 back , still possible to revert ? I still have my 12mini to make a iOS 17 backup

Can’t help you with that although I have had my Apple account closed today for breach of terms and conditions 😂 Apart from using Apple one and download an app from the App Store the only thing I have done is downgrade to 17.7.
I’m so done with Apple. They are possibly one of the must untrustworthy companies I know. It’s a good job I don’t lock my devices with the find my activation lock or they would be bricked.

It’s the only thing I can think that has ‘breached’ their terms and conditions. I’m a very light iCloud user and can’t imagine it’s anything else.
But they are very shady and don’t give you an actual reason. Just send you a link to their terms and conditions and say the account can’t be reopened but you can open another account. 😂
Give them a shout and talk the support. Sounds unlikely that they would close an account for downgrading the OS.
And if that is the case after you've been in contact with them, let us know.
I’ve been in touch with them already. They won’t give any specifics as to why they have closed it, but apart from subscribing to Apple one, buying an app for £12.99 and using iCloud Photos my Apple account usage is minimal
Could it be an issue with payment? Credit card in another name, lost card etc?
Surely they must be able to give you some sort of hint why it has been closed? Can you escalate the issue?
All payments have gone through fine. The first line support say there is nothing they can do and it can’t be escalated, and advised I just open another account.
I won’t bother though. I’m done with them now after 26 years. They have become more hassle than useful in the last few years and things look like they are going to get worse with their latest software releases.

So what do you do with all the purchases that you have made over the years. I hate the big brother attitude of these companies as they are willing to take your money but when you need an explanation of something like this then they just fob you off.

I’ve lost them. Thankfully there isn’t a lot there as I always try to buy software direct rather than use the AppStore for exactly this reason.
The same reason I always deactivate activation lock on my devices. I’m looking at a ‘dumb’ phone now. Being tethered to a company that can cut you off, taking away your software purchases and access to hardware you purchased is not a good practice.
As far as Apple one goes I think I managed to get my last subscription fee refunded so I’ll sign up for Spotify with that.
I have spent hundreds of ££££ on video and music over the years as well as iCloud subscriptions but that has all ended.

This doesn't make any sense. Installing iOS isn't a violation. Are you not a registered beta tester?
Wondering same, since technically, need to be registered with beta program to run betas. But think other possibilities might be in play: turning on features not available in country one is in (eg. AI; yeah thin guess)? Too many product returns?

You’re damn right something isn’t correct in all this, but there is no way of getting any information out of Apple to find out what the actual issue is. I did also install the profile to stop the ios18 nagging because that’s an invasion of my privacy. However. So far without an Apple account it’s affected my life in exactly zero ways, so hey ho. It’s not a huge loss for me.l, but I guess I’m lucky I foresaw the perils of tethering my life and hardware to it
