OK so I do have a 64gb 3G on order, I do also own a Verizon Mifi, is it stupid for me to get the 3g version? I figure I would use the 3g once in a blue moon, but will have it just in case I need it. I am thinking more along the lines of just carrying the ipad and mifi around everywhere when it could all be built in. Or is the Wifi just a much more logical option......?

P.S. I have a mifi because I travel a lot and actually save money with the mifi vs horrible hotel wifi, which most times is non-existent in rooms.

I struggled with this same issue(minus having the Verizon MiFi). I just figured that if I absolutely needed internet access and wasn't near a wifi area, that I could just use my iPhone. Then a friend of mine suggested that I should buy the 3G for resale value. Even if I decided to never use the 3G it might be easier to sell when and if I decided to upgrade. As far as your situation goes, I would do anthing to avoid carrying both of those items. I crave convenience and would hate to carry around more than I have to.

For me that was a "No Brainer"..... I hate to buy into the idea that one should have a separate plan for each device one owns. If I go anywhere where I don't have a WiFi connection chances are that I still have my phone with me.....

Right now I am tethering my iPhone to the iPad and it works great! Should that option be not available with the next iPhone I will just switch to an HTC Evo that comes with tethering built in.

Pay for a connection for each device will go the way "Compuserve" did, if anybody remembers that racket. They used to charge by characters transmitted!

So, AT&T enjoy while it lasts:)

I say drop the 3G option and just get the wifi. Especially if you'll only use it sparingly. I don't plan on reselling my iPad or anything so I'm sure about that aspect. I have a 32 GB and am very happy with it.
