Stinky USB-C cable? Makes eyes water.

So my new M1 MBA arrived. Took a month. As soon as I cracked the actual Apple box open, I was hit with a massive nasty mildew mold smell! First time it's ever happened. Turns out it's the USB-C cable! I wiped it down with a 99% IPA wipe and it still stinks. I checked my iPhone 12 cable and it has no smell.

Just very bizarre. I mean it's REALLY a strong odor. Making my eyes water even.

Bizarre. Call Apple and get a new cable sent out

Apparently they won't replace the cable on its own. It's all a bit bizarre.

I just bought one of these as a replacement for the one that came with my 2017 MacBook Pro and it definitely smelled like mold. It also made my hands and eyes itch really bad when I handled it. They took it back at the store but it’s not great that they are still having this issue in 2023.
