Just got the notice today that stocard is shutting down. I did the transfer of my cards into Klarna, but it doesn't look like they have an Apple Watch app. Does anyone know of an app that works on the watch to store loyalty cards? I know of that app (Pass2You or something like that) that allows me to enter Tham into the wallet app, but I'd prefer a separate app if possible.

You could try FidMe. I’ve never tried it but it does support Apple Watch

Definitely no updates but the note I got said it was shutting down. Not sure if you’ll lose your currently stored cards or not but probably makes sense to make sure you have backups of all your cards in case they are no longer accessible. You can also upgrade to the klarna app (who bought stocard) but they don’t have a watch app.

Weird, I've been using Stocard for over 10 years and have never received any message from them that they are shutting down.

The stocard website doesn't mention shutting down either https://stocardapp.com/en/ca/news-2022-stocard-klarna

I ended up buying an app called Barcodes. It has a free version, but the top level is a one-time $10 (IIRC) fee to unlock all functionality. It's created by an independent developer which I like.

The other thing I like, which I have heard that Stocard did as well, but I never knew about it, is convert your key tags so they can be added into Wallet. It's nice to be able to add the 2 I use all the time into the Wallet, but then have the barcodes app on the watch & phone) for those that I don't use as often.

I got this exact message back on September 1, so it sounds like they are doing a rolling shutdown. If that's the case, yours is coming sooner or later.
interesting... I'll keep an eye out for it now.

There is literally no mention of this shutdown on the Canadian page. Its still all their normal advertising and app promotion on the Canada page. Maybe its a country by country shutdown?

Thanks for the suggestion. Installed Barecodes. The only feature I'm missing compared to Stocard is a Stacked Widget.

Thanks for this thread, I didn't know Stocard was stopping.

Going to check out Barecodes too.

Ok I like it already more as I can now add my cards to my watch.

I'm not sure what stacked widgets are, but you might want to reach out to the developer. He seems to be pretty responsive and might be able to share if that's something he can add in the near future.

Does Wallet.app gracefully handle hundeds of cards? I just have 8 cards in Wallet now and see no way to organize it.

Not that I am able to figure out.

I just added the 2 loyalty codes that I use all the time to Wallet & if I need any of my other ones, I open up the barcodes app. All of my loyalty codes, including the 2 that I've added to wallet are in the barcodes app, so I can use it either place, but for those 2 I find that it's still easier (for me) to double click the watch button & scroll down (pretty far) than it is to open an app, and then scroll to the right code. It's not like either one is super hard, but I just prefer the wallet app.

I managed to figure it out. Very pleased with the app thus far. I'm hoping the developer offers a Black Friday special on the lifetime price.

Hmm, I still use Stocard all the time on my watch. I keep my Walgreens and CVS cards on my Apple Watch. It’s working just find today and I haven’t received any message.

Excellent service from Jake at Barcodes
He responded promptly to my email and updated the graphics for one of the Retailer cards i am using.

Comparing Stocard to the Barcodes App

With Stocard there are more steps required to display your Barecode.

With the Barcodes app the full barcode is displayed so no need to tap the widget to open the barcode, you basically flip through the widget stack to display the card barcode required and scan at the till point or you can create single widgets requiring no scrolling

Definitely a good investment should you opt to purchase the app.

FWIW, I've had Stocard for a while, used it only occasionally, and would not have discovered the news until the app provided notification, or stopped functioning.

But, I've never registered for an account, so I don't know if that may be a factor, and only randomly stumbled upon this thread.

I've also tried one of those apps that allow users to add other cards to the Wallet, but found that, in spite of the work doing that, they all mysteriously disappeared for reasons unknown some time thereafter, so it was a waste of time.

I guess that whatever method such apps used to trick Wallet into adding unapproved card types is vulnerable to failure.

But that's one feature Apple should Sherlock.

Yup, Stocard is gone! Also posted is the privacy scorecard of Klarna, no thank you! It's a hoover.

I looked at the scorecard for Barcodes and it looks just like the old Stocard one, looks like analytics only, nothing linked to you personally. I'll check it out. Pass2u also looked good.

I actually have pass2u as well. I bought it back when I was still using Stocard. I needed it to create a wallet card for a QR code. It did the trick and I dont recall if barcodes will create cards for QR codes.

The one thing I didn’t like about pass2u, and this could 100% be user error, is that the icons for the card are super small on the watch. The icon only takes up like the upper left corner of the card, maybe 5% of the card. I have to use different color backgrounds to tell them apart as the icons look very similar. But aside from that, it has worked well.

My plan right now is to screen cap the bar codes from Storcard and add them to a pinned, protected note in Notes.
