Hello
I'm going to New York city at the weekend. Is there anyone who knows whether it is possible to get your hands on an IPAD?

Sincerely Lars

No guarantees but it should be ok. There are four Apple stores in Manhattan, the fifth ave store is very crowded so you may want to try one of the other stores first. I recommend The apple store in my neighborhood on the upper west side at 68th and broadway. The stock has been pretty good there since launch.

There's also an Apple store in the meatpacking district. You should check that one as well. It wasn't crowded. It's glass enclosed too and has 3 floors. I went to that one and the Fifth Ave when I was in NY. The Fifth Ave one was cool. I took a picture of the inside of it looking up at the apple logo and sky and used it as my iphone wallpaper.

14th and 9th. IIRC it is also the largest Apple store in manhattan.

Weren't there some threads about Manhattan being completely out of stock?

Although I guess they are as likely to get restocked quickly as anywhere, if not likelier.

Depends, volume or store space? The new Upper West side may rival it in volume (it has a really high ceiling) I believe. :)

To the OP, we have 4 Apple stores here in Manhattan alone, 5th Ave & 58th St, 14th St & 9th Ave, SoHo (Prince St) and the new Upper West Side (67th & Broadway). Enjoy!

And while you're over at the store on Broadway, take a walk over a block to 68th and Columbus Ave. and eat at Francesco's Pizzeria. It seems to be a routine for me as I learn this place.

Still need to check out the other two though after already seeing the 5th Ave. store.

Ok now that I've hijacked this thread, back to your regularly scheduled program.

You are scaring me !
Is there someone in Manhattan who could confirm that they have iPads in stock ?

I went late last week to get a case and they were out of any cases that were worth anything. I also asked about stock and the 5th Ave store only had 64GB models in stock and they were bringing out a bunch to the registers. it's been about a week tho so who knows.

Just call the stores. Their stock probably changes daily. Whenever a store in northern Virginia gets some, they're sold out by the end of the day.

volcano

Damn. Because of the Icelandic volcano, then my trip to New York canceled. All Flights from Denmark and the UK do not fly ...
But thanks for your reply

Wow I've been following this story of course, but it didn't occur to me that it'd have an impact on anyone's iPad purchase plans!

This is my neighborhood as well. Love that they gave us an apple store within walking distance:D

Although I have walked to the store on 5th on nice summer days in the past, but this one is much closer.

I called apple store on 5th ave. at 1a.m. last night and was surprised when an apple employee said they had all three versions available. perhaps new ipad deliveries roll in early in the morning?

Apparently, Steve Jobs has dominion over the earth and sky. He is determined to prevent any iPads from leaving North American soil.
