I'm mostly sure that I saw pre-market quotes in the Stocks app within the past week. I'm positive I saw pre-market quotes somewhere... and the only place I can think of is Stocks. But, right now today (9 a.m. ET), I don't see it and there is only yesterday's closing price.

Am I going daft or just misplacing what I recall?

Unfortunately the Apple stocks app doesn’t provide any pre/post market stock info. Once the market closes at 4pm it doesn’t show any updated prices till it reopens at 9:30am. I would recommend downloading and installing Robinhood simply for the fact that it provides live pre/post market quotes. I use TD Ameritrade as my broker but Robinhood if I want to quickly check the price of a stock I’m watching. You don’t have to deposit any funds into the Robinhood account either if you are only using it as an app to quickly check your securities your watching.

Edit: just noticed that you were asking in reference to the Mac app. Unfortunately you still cannot get live quotes and you also cannot download Robinhood for Mac either I’m afraid. Perhaps there’s another Mac stocks app I’m not aware of that you could use?

Yahoo Finance has extended hours quotes both in its web site as well as their iOS/iPadOS apps.

The easiest way to do this on a Mac is to log into Yahoo Finance on a web browser, create a portfolio with the symbols you're watching, create a custom view, then add whatever after-hours trading metrics you desire: pre-market price, pre-market price change, pre-market % change, post-market price, post-market price change, post market % change, etc.

This is not a new feature. It has been around for years and years on the Yahoo Finance website.

I'm not crazy. I have no idea why but the pre-market value was not in Stocks this morning but the post-market value is in it now. Again... I don't know why it chooses to come and go. But I've convinced myself that I'm not Looney Tunes.
