Recently i had a macbook pro stolen. it also had some minor problems which would need an apple service to fix them. When someone takes a mac into a apple service shop will they now that its stolen? and are there any chances i will get it back?

If you notify Apple and give them the serial number of it, they may be able to flag it in their system in case it came in for service. It would take a pretty dumb thief to bring a stolen Mac to Apple for service, but someone down the line who ends up with it without knowing it was stolen certainly could.

hopefully i still get it back... but im thinking they wont go to the apple store itself but they might take it to a authorised service provider. Would it flag up here too?

Who knows, but it really doesn't hurt for you to give Apple a call and see what they can do.

In the meantime, contact police/insurance and file a claim.
