It seems like every time I take a UHD video that takes up a bit too much space, iCloud removes a bunch of files. i.e. Today I opened up "Notability" and all the files were "in the cloud" so I couldn't use any of my files. Is there a way to stop the iPad deleting files off the iPad (aside from turning off iCloud)

I don't want to open an app and then have to wait for 5 minutes to download my files that were there yesterday!! It's a big enough of a problem that I am probably just going to turn off iCloud completely. The interruptions it creates are more of a problem than the benefits of iCloud (in my opinion)

How much iPad available storage do you have? From your description it sounds like you're running low, and that iCloud is doing its job to free up storage by moving files to iCloud. You can turn off iCloud for particular apps if that's your preference without turning off iCloud completely. Also for the apps that seem to have files moved, check if the default storage location is iCloud Drive or On My iPad.

Yes, when I record videos, they tend to much or all of the space on the device. I don't want all my other files to be deleted from my device when I am in the middle of a recording session.

Turning off iCloud for all my note taking apps (for example) just to stop the notes from being deleted because I am in the middle of a recording session is not ideal. I'd rather my notes stay on the iPad and the video recording stop (so I know to transfer the current set of videos over to my laptop) rather than have everything else get deleted.

If I have turn off iCloud for my notes app, then notes will no longer sync. I may as well turn off iCloud all together if I cant use iCloud for my apps that I use daily.
