MP 4,1 (about to flash to 5,1) booted from DVD to create a Disk Image from the system disk to an external drive. The image to be made is over 750GB, so it'll take a while. But while Disk Utility is running while the booted from the DVD creating the disk image, after about 10 mins. the machine goes to sleep, which obviously interrupts the disk image process about 5% in. Normally I'd go to the Control Panel > Energy Saver to turn off computer sleep, but that's not an option when booted from DVD.

Anyone know how to force the machine NOT to sleep while creating the disk image, booted from DVD?

You can try this terminal command (I think it's case sensitive):

Code:
sudo systemsetup -setcomputersleep Never

Why not just use Carbon Copy Cloner and do the say thing from within macOS? It's just as good, and much faster. Also, it won't go to sleep while making a clone or image file.

Does CCC let you clone your boot drive while booted in it? Didn't think it did..?
