I have a MacOs Monterey Desktop computer and a MacBookAir. I am having problems with the MacBook and when I have both devices on together, the errors on the MacBook keep changing the Desktop and incorporating the MacBook errors. I presume this is happening through the links on iCloud. How can I stop this problem and in fact make the MacBook copy the Desktop instead?

What problems are you having on the MacBook, what are the errors?

Can you provide screenshots of both machines before and after the errors occur?

Hello HD. One major problem is that all my webpage Favourites have suddenly become jumbled up on the laptop. Some of them have moved into the folders of other Favourites. I can sort that but my question is "how can I stop the problem affecting my Desktop computer when it is on at the same time as the Laptop?".

my choir music practice files are not copying from My Desktop computer to my MacBookAir. How can I do it?

1. You have iCloud drive setup on both machines?

2. What folder has the practice files - need the complete path

Yes I have iCloud setup on both machines. The practice files are in the Music application as found in the Launchpad. I don't know what the path is.

"Show in finder"

I am not bothered about the Music files anymore. I decided to turn off Safari in iCloud and have sorted the errors is in my Safari Favourites, but I am still faced with the problem of the laptop changing the Desktop Favourites to match the laptop if I activate Safari in iCloud. Is there a way to make mY desktop computer the controlling computer instead of the laptop taking control?

For what it's worth, I have upgraded to Ventura. I have also just spent 3 hours deleting and adding Favourites in the right place on my MacBookAir and after closing all sections, everything suddenly flashed around and jumbled back to where they were!!!

I’d suggest calling Apple support or making an appointment at a local Apple Store (if there’s one near you). It’s difficult to determine what is happening on your computers via this forum. It sounds like some sort of a syncing issue but there’s no way in macOS for a user to force one or the other computer to be the “controlling computer”. You may need to talk to Apple to help sort it out (I encountered a syncing bug in iCloud once and ended up working with one of Apple’s engineers to track down the issue and fix it).

Hello mk. Well I had a long telephone session with someone at Apple Support and he was not very helpful. He only told me to do the various things I had already tried. So afterwards, I spent 3 hours creating new Bookmark Favourites and copying all the displace ones to them. That has worked but left one irritating thing. I can't get rid of the second Shopping Favourite subheading.See attached. Also is there a way to pin the favourites in place?

Just a thought, if anyone else has found the same problem as me, I discovered that if I drag a bookmark and place it as close to the left hand edge as possible without loosing it, it stayed in position.
