so...how do you keep your mbp from sleeping when you close the lid, with my PC notebook in windows its easy, and i shut the screen and set it down a lot, and pick it right back up if im working on something, and sleep is alright, but it kicks you off of any web based application like ichat and has to reconnect, this is quite annoying, even to the point i might return it this isnt changeable

Coming from a Windows laptop myself, this was a strange phenomenon. But I got used to it because now I can shut the laptop and not worry about it losing all power quickly.

BTW- web-based hat app (atleast Adium) reconnects automatically.

well sure iChat reconnects automatically, but if you're not connected no one knows you are online to send you messages..thus the big issue

and i believe that app will work wonderfully

thanks!

The reason is because a lot of the heat is dispatched through the keyboard.

The MacBook Pro is a really powerful laptop - one of the most powerful on the market, thus will generate a lot of heat. By closing the lid, it will heat the laptop up.

Not much of a problem unless you close the lid and put your MacBook Pro into your carry case, and forget to put it to sleep. Then you'll realise why Apple by default make it go to sleep when you close the lid :p
