Anyone here who is not guessing is welcome to respond in this thread.

What is going to happen at Apple & At&t Stores on Friday in terms of CREDIT CHECKS. This is the single most important aspect of the entire DAY, and people are still posting about unlocking and SIM crap.

Will they or Will they NOT require a credit check in store to purchase the phone??????

Does anyone acknowledge how important this is!?

Nobody knows, so this is a horrible place to get an answer. Nor do I acknowledge how important it is.

Why is it sooooo important? Do you have terrible credit?

NO. THEY AREN'T GOING TO ASK FOR YOUR ****ING SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IN A STORE FOR EVERY SINGLE PERSON.

WHY, IT WOULD BE A WASTE OF TIME FOR THE DROVES OF CURRENT UNDER CONTRACT IPHONE BUYERS, WHEN EVERYONE CAN JUST GO HOME AND DO IT ONLINE.

if i am wrong, then so be it, but its just ****ing common sense.

Because for alot of this, this is not just looked at as a cell phone purchase, its an apple purchase. So that is going to include a great deal more people who are say not of age to have established credit for starting these plans. I know plenty of people who like myself who are interested in the phone and have the money because of various savings and summer work income, and the means to pay the monthly, but no credit. It is important for sure.:)

The guy at my local store said that everyone who has been seriously interested in buying it has gone through their credit check ahead of time and they are hoping that most people will do this so everyone can just be in and out.

I got a number that was a reference to my credit check, so when I go in, everything is ready to go.

Well from watching the activation video it looks to me as if you can get a credit check done before activation (and simply input a code you are given) or the check can be done on-line as part of the activation process.

Why are people getting so angry about this?

#1 Are you serious? You realize they do it every single day for every single phone that goes out the door? Yea, they do.

#2 The fact that you can run it online makes me think they wouldn't require it in store, since running it twice the same day is a bit of no no.

This is important because if they do run it in store and you don't meet their standards, a $500 purchase suddenly becomes a $1250 purchase.

Does anyone see the significance in that?

Watching the activation video, it looks like you can either do the credit check in the store or during the iTunes activation.

I don't know why it would be so important though. It's not even close to the most important aspect of the day.

You can go get a credit check at the store today and then enter the code they give you when you activate the phone.

If you are going to buy it without knowing if you can activate it, I'd say that's your problem.

Complete lie. I said STOP spreading false info. Call At&t right now and they will laugh you for asking to pre-approve.

They currently do credit apps, and you'll have to do one at some point, so I don't think it's completely out of the question that they run your credit before leaving an ATT store. After all, the video showed an ATT entry when signing on, so that has to come from somewhere.

There will be training soon, so that should be known shortly.

Are you planning on maxing out your plastic and posting to ebay or something?

If you get denied after leaving the store, you can always return it. At least you'll get to hold it. ;)

If your credit gets denied, return it. I don't see the big problem here.

As for me, I have fantastic credit, so I'm not a bit worried. :)

I'm confused...

If you don't know what the process will be, how do you know what is or isn't false?

Why not tell us what you do know, and how, and then we could fill in the gaps for you.

Also, have you watched the video?

Why does a $500 purchase become a $1250 purchase? Are you talking about interest? Or are you adding the price of the plan in? Either way - what are you talking about and why are you so angry about it?

If you are already an ATT customer do they do a re-credit check. The video does not show what happens when you are already an ATT subscriber.

Because I have made many phone calls today, and I know which information is WRONG.

I had the same question. I don't even know if i have credit; I have a credit card, and always pay in full so I don't think there's any problem, but my AT&T phone is under my Dad's name. So I guess I'll put in his social and do it under his name that way I don't have to worry :p

Er ,, ... don't bite my head off but why are there credit checks if you're buying it? That's right isn't it? It's a thing to buy and not hire? I'm doing my damnedest to ignore this bloody phone but this thread sucked me in.

The credit check is for the 2 years of cell phone service you must agree to buy when you purchase an iPhone.
