I hate ads period. I tape most of the tv I watch on my DVR and fast forward through the commercials when I watch the shows.

I guess I'm an anachronism, but I've never had a TV. Or rather we've had a TV since the beginning of the VCRs, but we never attached it to the antenna. We bought or rented our movies/documentaries. Never had to deal with commercials. Now my gf and I are about to move to a new appartment, and we don't plan on getting TV unless we get a very good deal to get english and french speaking channels (we live in Spain, and TV here sucks)

I think the yelling implies urgency or something. They want you to REMEMBER their ad and when you see their products, they want you to have that annoying guy's voice in your head "now now now!"

Their objective should be to show you that their product is the best and that it is what you need, not to annoy you so you remember it.

If the only reason you remember a product is because the commercial was obnoxious, then that product is not worth buying.

Good products sell themselves.

Has anyone seen the infomercial dubs on YouTube? I won't link, as I'm not sure what's allowed to be posted here, but they're pretty funny.

The yelling isn't too bad, but when a commercial comes on, and the volume jumps up several notches, well that rally irks me. I don't need to be blasted out of my living room for a commercial.

Marshall McLuhan famously said with respect to television, "The medium is the message." The message became intolerable noise and clutter chopped into programming content without regard for the overall effect on the viewer. It's why I no longer have a television set.

Normal adverts I can just about stand, but it's the "infomercials" that really grind my gears. The ones that give you a number at the end of the advert, because they think their pack of kitchen towels is so important that we'd instantly grab the phone and order 50 packs!

And here I had forgotten he had died. :(
I miss Billy.
Please Billy, if you can hear me, please yell a sign that I should buy more Oxy Clean and Mini Burger Makers.

:eek::eek:I'm embarrassed to say that I enjoy some of those infomercials, especially those involving lawn care equipment or power tools.:eek::eek: I drooled at the prospect of owning a Fien MultiMaster until the stick shock brought me back to earth.:p The Omni Dual Saw. How about the Worx GT? That made me want to buy the edger/trimmer even though my yard is small enough to trim with a pair of scissors.;)
