I'm actually thinking of building a small raid array for my mini, but since I only have 1 firewire port and 4 usb ports what options will I have?

I've got the lacie mini and its great, I far prefer it to the other solutions out there as it seperates the heat from the hard disc from the mini itself.

It matches the mini perfectly and seems to be very quiet. I bought the 80GB version and a 500GB seagate hard drive and just replaced the hard drive.

There is a new version of it coming out soon which has the firewire and usb hubs too. I decided not to get this as we dont need it and it has usb ports on the sides I think which spoils the clean looks.

The Lacie is nice, but I much prefer the ministack, which works as a firewire and USB hub too.

can you tell me what brand of hard disk is inside? i refuse to by LaCie because they use crappy Western Digital hard drives in pretty cases. Is it something decent? I really like the looks of this unit.

Not in the lacie I got, and others I've seen on the web, mine had a hitachi deskstar inside. :)
