So, I'm debating whether or not I should move a majority of my Pages/Numbers documents to iCloud or keep them on the Mac?

I've always wanted to invest in Dropbox, but this seems to be a much better idea for me... Now, say that Apple experiences a glitch, will I loose that document for good? Or is it stored on my Mac somewhere where I could retrieve it?

I'd really like to store everything on the iCloud, for backup purposes and for accessing files from my iOS devices, but...

Thoughts?

Dropbox is free, up to a point. That's a great way to have everything online and on the mac.

Your other option is google drive, might want to look into that.

These other services sync to iOS devices too but not quite as seamlessly as iCloud.

I use DropBox and have dabbled with iCloud with Lion and my iPad.

I mainly use DropBox for certain things I want access to on multiple devices/computers. I will experiment with iCloud for Pages/Numbers/Other Apple docs. I like the idea but it's cumbersome having to use the web browser to access docs on the Mac.

Regardless, I'll keep only docs I am working on or need on the "cloud" and all the rest will stay on my Mac.

iCloud stores documents on your computers and devices so if you have Time Machine backups turned on then yes you will have a backup.

I'm not exactly sure how easy they can be found though. Haven't tried that yet.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking... Try and store as much in the cloud as possible with it being backed up via Time Machine in the Library folder... At least I hope :)

I vote for Dropbox if you have a lot of PDF files. Apple currently has iCloud support built into the Preview app, but you have no way of accessing these PDFs on mobile devices. However, if you are just sticking with Pages/Keynote/Numbers documents, it might be easier to stick with iCloud.
