Store vs Online

Hello everyone, I am new to the boards. I see everyone talking about 3rd week computers and when they are shipping, my question is how many weeks behind is the new iMac from purchasing in the store compared to online? Can I see on the box when the device was released if I decide to purchase in the Apple Store? I tried to find this answer with the search button but nothing came up. Thanks for your help.

I imagine you could see the box at the store, whether or not they would have any others besides that specific batch is another discussion.

Best to call the specific store to confirm stock before visiting. Every Apple Store would not have the model you're interested in instock. In case you're not aware, the i7 is online only, whereas the i5 would be available in store.

I went to UK store at start of Jan and they told me the latest they had was week 46. I explained that I wanted a more recent one but they said thats the latest they had. When they brought it out it was a week 49! Had to return it and got a week 46, duff too so refunded and now ordered online (i5). I think what you get in store will vary greatly depending on how many of a particular line they sell, so when they get new deliveries, and what you get will depend on who you deal with in store. I decided that ordering online is the only way to get a recent model, mine ships 2nd Feb (at the moment!).
