hi, any online store, forum/trade/sell/buy for buy used memory ram?

Im looking for my macpro 2008, 3.1 ddr2 800mhz

I refuse to pay a lot for new memory... is expensive

thanks

Came across one the other day, but the prices are still expensive, www.thebookyard.com, best bet is to look at crucial's website, generally a lot cheaper, I've even noted the recycled RAM from thebookyard is more expensive than Crucial's new stock, go figure!!

You can get 16GB off eBay for $120

Th secret is, the memory doesn't have to be for Mac Pro. It just has to be DDR2, Fully Buffered, and PC2-5300F. It can be either 667Mhz or 800Mhz.

Item number: 150871048749
16GB (8x2GB) = $100 shipped.

I've been buying/selling Mac Pros since January 2012. Sold about 60+ Mac Pros since than. I've tested my theory; the ram works fine.

I bought some ram, ecc, fb-dimm, pc2-5300f, 667mhz, but it is not recognised? are you sure it doesn't have to be verified by mac pro to work?

This is also true for DDR3 in 2009-2012 models. Kingston, for example, has so many product numbers, as long as it also has thermal sensor, that are compatible and cost less. Amazon warehouse sometimes sells used RAM modules at almost half the price of the new ones, and offers 30-day return period if not satisfied.

What ever you do if you are in Europe don't buy RAM from Komputerbay who sell on Amazon Marketplace. I bought 4x4GB of FB-DIMMs for my Mac Pro 3,1. When the memory arrived two sticks were DOA & the other two were reported as 2GB 667MHz parts rather than the 4GB 800MHz parts I paid for. I can understand having one stick bad but all four? I have to conclude that their RAM is total crap. I returned it all for a refund & had to chase them & then claim under Amazon Atoz Guarantee before I got my money back.
