Hi,
I'm trying to configure Mail.app to read/write all email for a particular account on my iPod. I was partially successful by setting the right path on the Preferences panel (it only works if you do it while creating the account; you won't be able to edit it after it has been created). However, I have encountered the following problems:
(1) When I start Mail.app without connecting the iPod, the application will start normally; but thereafter, it will ignore the iPod completely. i.e, it won't access all the emails that are already stored on the iPod until I erase the account completely and reconfigure everything.
(2) I haven't found a way to store local mail folders on the iPod. Apparently, Mail.app will not allow this at all. I've tried the following:
a. Creating softlinks from the terminal (ln -s) to files and folders on the iPod to try to fool Mail.app. They are ignored completely.
b. Manually editting the preference file for Mail.app. There is an entry in the XML stored there for the the Mailboxes folder. I tried editting this to make it point to a folder in the iPod; but my entry is completely ignored by the app too.
Has anyone successfully done this?
