I just bought me an Apple TV and it's syncing right now, but I do have a question in mind. As of the moment, I have ripped 7 movies. I choose the "sync the last 5 movies" option for my movie and it shows only the 5 movie on the TV.

Here's the thing I don't get. What if I had like 100 movies and choose to sync only 5 still? What happens to the other 95 movies? I thought I could just stream and watch it wirelessly but it's not showing up on Apple TV?

...same thing on music and photos too?

I chose not to sync anything. So that way I stream everything. The only thing I could not figure out how to steam were photos - so I sync those.

But as far as movies/tvshows/music I sync nothing and just stream it.

Just make sure under sources you point it to your computer.

Just steam everything if you have the ability to do so. Syncing does not buy you anything except you don't need to have your Mac turned on to watch movies. Go to sources, select you iTunes library and see if you can see your other 95 movies if you really want to do this. You may need to check something in iTunes, but I can't remember. Sorry, I don't sync. Hopefully with the new update coming you will not have such an issue to see all movies.

Hmm, so lemme get this straight. If I want to just stream everything from my desktop to Apple TV instead of syncing it, I have to change the source every time I turn on Apple TV? Is there a way to automatically set the source as default?

My ATV automatically reconnects if I say close iTunes or restart my Mac. The only time this doesn't work if my wife goes into menus and say watches previews when the Mac is not connected. Otherwise it should automatically reconnect once it sees the iTunes library again.

Edit: I think they are fixing the way menus works with the next update.
