Because iCloud Photo Library insists on dumping all photos (optimized) onto my iPhone and iPad, which I do not want, I am considering putting my Photo Library on Google Drive. I know it can hold folders. But I want to know if Apple's Photos program can automatically upload all my new photos/videos (from iPhone and iPad) to that Photos Library that resides on Google Drive (assuming of course that the Photos app on my MacBook Pro is loaded and the computer is online (meaning, connected to Google Drive).

This does work when I have my external HD attached to the MacBook Pro. Photo Stream sends new photos to that Photos Library that is on the external, when it is connected.

Will this work? So I can continue to keep my Photos Library up to date while it sits on Google Drive?

And by the way, thank you for that link to the Dropbox-related article. That was very informative.
But I am curious about what that referenced library is. Is that a way to make Photos work when the Library is stored off the main computer? I am just so tired of carting that external hard drive around whenever I want to see my photos.
Thanks for any help.
