Hello,

I'm looking to "Jailbreak" a iPhone4S running 6.0.2 but I've no idea how! I have googled it many times as well as looking on this forum but it all seems very confusing.

I've heard of "Redsn0w" but I don't understand how that works. I would prefer to do this untethered too... Do you have to pay to jailbreak 6.0.2? (Since Jailbreaking seems popular, a lot of companies want your money for doing it!)

Thank you

Because iOS 6.0.2 doesn't exist for the iPhone 4S, it cannot be jailbroken. The latest version of iOS for the iPhone 4S, 6.0.1, cannot be jailbroken by anything at this time.

Thanks for your fast reply!

I personally don't own the phone (I have 3GS) so I wasn't 100% sure about the iOs version. Is 6.0.1 the latest version now?

What is the reason for not being able to jailbreak the 4S? Hardware changes? From what I understand, the 3GS can be jailbroken, is that right?

Thank you again.

iOS 6.0.1 is the latest for the 4S, but iOS 6.0.2 is the latest for the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. The reason is that there is not an exploitable flaw in the device's bootrom. The iPhone 4 and 3Gs have one of these flaws. Because the 4S lacks such a flaw, the people that design jailbreaks must find flaws within iOS. This can be harder to do and in this case, nothing has been released to the public at this time.
