has anyone seen this airport menu icon? it occurs when i have airport turned on and it has located a signal, but i'm not using that airport signal...

I never seen that Airport icon... weird... When I have it on but not connected to any Airport Base Station, it just stays grey bars. When its off, it doesnt have the grey bars.
 
What it means...

afik that icon means you have created your own network and that has been selected. I guess it might mean that you are the host or originator of a network...
 
no answers yet, huh? i don't have a base station near me in my office...i'm showing someone else's network, so i don't think i've created my own network.
 
I seem to remember seeing that icon when I created my own network at home with two Airport equipped machines. Do you have two macs? I certainly has something to do with networking.
 
It means you're on an ad-hoc network, or computer 2 computer. ANd if you use it for long, you'll soon realize why people buy Access Points (Base Stations).

i thought it was computer to computer only?

ive created comp to comp networks before, theyre totally crappy....
