iPhone 7/Plus Strange Audio Issue

Hello all !

My iPhone 7 has been behaving strangely with it's audio recording.

When using the Voice Memo or the Camera app - all is OK. Audio recording is clear and crisp.

When using any other app, such as Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp, iMessage etc., when recording video or audio, there is constant background ambient noise - it sounds kind of like I am standing in a wind tunnel. I can still hear the audio, but it is muffled and very low quality. This occurs with both front and rear cameras.

I have tried to clean the microphone, the speakers to no avail. A reinstall of affected apps does not help.

Could it be that you’re actually covering the mic while holding the phone differently?
