When using Apple Mail, I usually put messages I need to reply to in a separate folder, and then return them to the Inbox after replying to them. Strangely, sometimes these messages return to the folder after I've moved them.

When I move the message from the folder back to the Inbox, it disappears, but the displayed number of messages in the box doesn't change. If I switch to another folder and then switch back, the message has returned.

Does anybody have any idea what's going on?
